MASTEL (Masyarakat Telematika Indonesia) is a non profit organization – a civil society – that links Government, industry and consumers as well other stakeholders found information communication (Infocom).
Established as Indonesian Telecommunication Society (MASTEL) at the 1st December 1993, MASTEL served as a forum that serve to cater all potentials found in the industry, especially those involved in the telecommunication technology, in order to face the ever-changing strategic environment, formulate ideas and conduct various activities in promoting and developing Indonesian telecommunication industry.
Positioning itself towards convergence in telecommunications, information technology and multimedia / broadcasting sectors, MASTEL in its third National Assembly, on the 20th of February 2000, decided to extend its scope from that of telecommunications to telecommunications, information technology and multimedia. In the National Assembly, members gave mandate to the newly appointed Chairman to keep MASTEL’s name but adjusted its long-form from MASTEL (Indonesian Telecommunications Society) into Indonesian Infocom Society.
As of today, MASTEL is currently supported by approximately 20 associations in infocom sector, and has 50 corporate members, 221 individual members, 30 non-profit members and 15 MASTEL honorary members.
Giri S Hadihardjono was elected Chairman by votes in 2006 National Assembly. While Office Bearers for the period of 2006 – 2009 was appointed at the 15th of March 2006 to run the organization with new working programs. In day to day activities, MASTEL is organized by Board of Directors, while Board of Profession and Association acts as advisory board. All office bearers are supported by MASTEL Secretariat, which is led by Secretary General.
Nowadays, MASTEL opens opportunities for infocom stakeholders, be it association, corporate, institution as well as individuals who directly or indirectly involve with infocom, to be its members. MASTEL membership always grows in line with programs and activities conducted by MASTEL. |
